By completing this course, the students shall gain the following knowledge, skills and general competencies:
Knowledge:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of marine structures’ stability and principles of structural dimensioning.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of currents, current loads and flow around bluff bodies.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of wind and wind loads.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of waves and wave loads.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of vortex-induced vibrations.
- Gain knowledge on dynamic behaviours of marine structures including added masses and damping.
- Gain knowledge on hydrodynamic simulations and analyses.
Skills:
- Can perform stability analysis of marine structures.
- Can calculate the environmental loads on marine structures.
- Can perform dynamic simulations of marine structures.
- Can perform vortex-induced vibration analysis.
General competencies:
- Can work on technical solutions to relevant professional and research problems.
- Can work in teams and manage real-life engineering projects.
- Can apply his/her knowledge and skills in new areas in order to carry out assignments and projects.

Coursework requirements
80% of exercises must be approved prior to the student is allowed to enter the exam. Home exercices can be given as group work.
Compulsory lab exercises (with demonstration of computer programme).
