On Thursday, October 29th, the University of Stavanger arranged the annual celebration and conferral of doctoral degrees. UiS Business School doctors Nina Hjertvikrem, May Linn Sikveland, Olaug Øygarden, and Ana Filipa Faria Lopes were reverently celebrated.

ECOBA – The Research School in Economics and Business administration
Hjertvikrem, Sikveland, Øygarden, and Lopes have been students at ECOBA – The Research School in Economics and Business administration.
The Research School in Economics and Business Administration (ECOBA) educates researchers who study how people and firms behave and interact within and between organizations and markets.
ECOBA builds on the UiS Business School’s Master Programme in Economics and Business Administration and allows for a wide set of research questions related to the broad field of Economics and Business Administration.
Examples are topics related to investment decisions, corporate finance and governance, wage formation and labour markets, environmental, energy and resource economics, motivation and learning, strategic marketing, management and innovation, firm organization, and network analysis.
UiS Business School Doctors
Olaug Øygarden, now holding a position as a researcher at NORCE, defended her doctoral thesis Divergent Organizational Change in Hospitals: Exploring how hospital leaders and employees can contribute to successful outcomes on February 7th, 2020.
Nina Hjertvikrem, also holding a position as a researcher at NORCE, defended her doctoral thesis Collaboration in research and innovation networks – under the first-ever digital Ph.D. defense at UiS on April 3rd, 2020.
Ana Filipa Faria Lopes (could not join the celebration in person due to travel restriction), now holding a position as Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences, University of Kiel, defended her doctoral thesis Essays on the Validity and Reliability of Non-Market Valuation Methods, September 8, 2020.
May Linn Auestad, Post Doctor at UiS Business School, defended her thesis titled Economics of Education: Peer Effects and Mindset, September 11th, 2020.
