I deres masteroppgave undersøkte de trafikanters kunnskap om kjøring i norske tunneler og i hvilken grad føreropplæringen bidrar til økt bevissthet blant norske trafikanter i forhold som omfatter tunnelsikkerhet. Studien viser at det gis stor frihet til trafikkskolene i føreropplæringen i tunnelsikkerhet. Undersøkelsen avdekket at for trafikkskoler som vektlegger temaet, er fokuset i hovedsak rettet mot kjøring i tunnel under normale forhold (som avstand til forankjørende og duggproblematikk). Føreropplæringen tar ikke høyde for risiko for tunnelbrann, hvordan tunnelbranner utspiller seg og kunnskap om selvredning.
